J.Storm secures upper bracket in Group D at the MDL Chengdu Major with a hard-fought victory against beastcoast

J.Storm defeats beastcoast 2-1 in the MDL Chengdu Major

North American Dota 2 team J.Storm emerged victorious against South American squad beastcoast with a 2-1 scoreline in the MDL Chengdu Major. The series went the distance, with beastcoast taking the first game and J.Storm securing two hard-fought victories in the following matches.

The Blitzkrieg Playstyle

Beastcoast displayed their signature blitzkrieg playstyle in the first game, but J.Storm emerged victorious in the next two games. However, J.Storm’s lack of impetus in the late game might prove to be a disadvantage against stronger teams. Beastcoast must find a way to replicate their game one performance if they want to stay in the Major.

A Clash of Strategies

In the first game, Beastcoast focused on their carry player, K1, who played Lifestealer. Despite dying only once, K1 created space for his team and maintained a net worth lead throughout the game. J.Storm recognized the importance of shutting down K1 but were unable to stop Beastcoast’s strategy.

An Hour-Long Battle

Beastcoast chose Faceless Void and Skywrath Mage for game two, while J.Storm picked three tanky heroes, Timbersaw, Viper, and Centaur, to counter the damage combo. J.Storm maintained an advantage throughout the game but struggled to deal building damage. Finally, J.Storm won a crucial teamfight, leading to Beastcoast conceding the game.

J.Storm’s Dominant Performance

In game three, J.Storm had a sustainable lineup with Chen, Chaos Knight, and Ogre Magi, while Beastcoast opted for a mid Tinker and a carry Omniknight. J.Storm dominated every lane, with Nine’s Tiny making a significant impact on the map. Beastcoast’s net worth was concentrated on Tinker and Omniknight, while the other players contributed little. J.Storm capitalized on this advantage and demolished Beastcoast’s base.

J.Storm will now face Team Liquid in the upper bracket, and Beastcoast will compete against Adroit in a best-of-one match to determine their fate.
