J Storm recruits 1437 in the midst of pre-TI9 roster changes

J Storm Finalizes Roster for The International 2019 qualifiers with Addition of 1437

In preparation for The International 2019 qualifiers, J Storm has completed its roster by adding veteran support player Sivatheeban “1437” Sivanathapillai.

Sivatheeban “1437” Sivanathapillai has previously played for teams like Cloud9, Digital Chaos, and has also served as a coach for Team Secret on two separate occasions.

Changes in J Storm Roster

After a difficult second half of the 2018-19 Dota Pro Circuit season, J Storm made some changes to their roster. Captain Park “March” Tae-won and Jonathan “bryle” Santos De Guia were benched, and their current status with the team is unknown. It is unclear whether they will pursue other opportunities or continue practicing with J Storm.

Although J Storm did not qualify for the EPICENTER Major, trial player Leon “Nine” Kirilin impressed the team and earned a full contract. Coach Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho also substituted in as a player during this period. DeMoN, a former Dota player with experience in teams such as Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid, will return to his coaching role after his brief comeback failed to make a significant impact.

1437 and Clinton “Fear” Loomis Take New Roles

In the latest changes, 1437 will take DeMoN’s spot in the roster, while Clinton “Fear” Loomis will become the new captain. Fear, who joined J Storm from EG, has been a crucial player for the team and has the necessary experience to fulfill this role.

The inclusion of 1437 adds another top-level experienced player to help strategize alongside Fear. Additionally, it provides 1437 with a fresh start after the struggles he had with the former TNC Tiger’s roster throughout this season. Despite the presence of star players Danil “Dendi” Ishutin and Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung, the roster fell apart almost immediately.

J Storm’s Position and Qualifiers

1437’s decision to join J Storm at this stage is surprising, but it could help solidify the team’s position in the race for the second spot in the North American region. EG has dominated for a considerable period, but there may finally be some competition for the clear second team in the region.

The open qualifiers for TI9 will be held from July 3 to 7, followed by the closed qualifiers from July 8 to 15. Only six teams will qualify for TI9 through these qualifiers, with one team representing each of the six regions.

J Storm is highly likely to receive an invite to the closed NA qualifier, as they are currently ranked 13th, just outside the direct TI9 invites.
