High Coast Esports Drops Complete Dota 2 Lineup Just Ahead of Their First DPC Season 2 Series

High Coast Esports Drops Dota 2 Roster Ahead of Season 2

High Coast Esports has made the surprising decision to drop its Dota 2 roster just days before the start of the second season of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit. The organization initially signed the former Chicken Fighters roster led by Adrian “Era” Kryeziu and Rasmus “Chessie” Blomdin at the beginning of season one’s DPC regional league.

Financial Struggles Lead to High Coast’s Exit from Dota

Unfortunately, High Coast Esports finished last in the upper division with a 3-12 record, resulting in their relegation to the lower division for season two. This poor performance seems to have had a significant impact on the organization’s financial stability, leading them to release all five players, their management team, and ultimately exit the Dota scene.

High Coast’s co-founder and CEO, Robert “GREVEN” Gavelin, expressed his disappointment in a tweet, stating, “Sometimes things don’t work out the way you want them to. This was one of those times, and I am both sad and ashamed that we couldn’t keep this train going, but without fuel, it’s hard to keep moving.”

Concerns for Valve’s Support of Teams and Players

This roster drop has raised concerns among fans about Valve’s commitment to supporting teams and players in the Dota 2 scene. Valve had promised to release branded team bundles during season one of the DPC, but with season two already underway, there has been no sign of these in-game effects, sprays, emotes, loading screens, or team custom chat wheel lines.

It is expected that the former High Coast players will adopt the Chicken Fighters moniker once again as they prepare for their first match of the season against Team Bald Reborn on April 17.
