Gorgc’s commentary streams attracted larger audience than all official ESL One Los Angeles qualifier broadcasts combined

Gorgc’s Streams Surpass ESL One Los Angeles Major Qualifiers in Viewership

Many Dota 2 fans skip watching qualifiers for tournaments due to the absence of popular players or the lackluster quality of the streams. However, the situation changed when well-known streaming personality Janne “Gorgc” Stefanovski started commentating on the matches. Surprisingly, Gorgc’s streams have garnered more viewers than all of the ESL streams combined during the ESL One Los Angeles Major qualifiers.

Most Dota qualifiers receive minimal advertising, resulting in only hardcore fans watching the main broadcast. Gorgc, being one of the largest Dota streamers, not only provides expert commentary but also entertains viewers during downtime between big plays and non-match related content. His casual approach and recent affiliation with OG, which brings in top players like Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng, and Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen, has attracted a significant number of viewers.

During the closed qualifiers for Europe, Gorgc’s stream peaked at over 50,000 viewers, surpassing the main ESL Dota 2 channel’s peak of just over 31,000 viewers. Even in the open qualifiers, where OG competed on the main ESL channel, Gorgc maintained an average of 21,000 viewers throughout his nine-hour stream, while ESL struggled to reach 4,200 viewers. At one point, Gorgc’s viewership reached 35,956 during the open qualifiers, more than the main ESL Dota broadcast and all other ESL streams combined.

Gorgc’s streams offered fans a fun and casual viewing experience of professional matches, including discussions on important aspects like timings, player builds, positioning, and analysis. The presence of pros like N0tail, Topson, and Toby “TobiWan” Dawson further enhanced the appeal of his streams.
