Gorgc Reveals Details Behind His Departure from OG in 2020

Gorgc, a prominent figure in the Dota 2 community, recently shared on stream the reasons behind his departure from OG in January 2020. The partnership between the star streamer and the organization, however, lasted only seven months before they decided to end their contract.

According to Gorgc, the split was due to a conflict of interest. OG did not want Gorgc to stream tournaments in which they were co-owners.

Gorgc’s stream had gained popularity as a secondary platform to watch tournaments with his relaxed commentary. At times, his stream even attracted more viewers than the official tournament broadcasts.

In 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of LAN events worldwide, esports organizations faced a potential loss of revenue. To mitigate this, some organizations became co-owners of the tournaments they participated in, which allowed them to benefit financially from the events’ success.

This situation created tension between Gorgc and OG, as both parties had conflicting interests. As a result, they decided to part ways.

Streaming tournaments was uncommon before 2020, but Gorgc played a significant role in popularizing this trend.

After leaving OG, Gorgc continued to create content according to his own preferences. Eventually, LAN tournaments resumed as the pandemic situation improved.
