Gladiators dominate OG; advance to DPC Western Europe Regional Grand Final against Liquid

Gladiators Sweep OG in Fast Matches to Secure Second Chance Against Team Liquid

In the DPC Western Europe Regional Finals, matches in Dota 2 can often stretch on for hours. However, that was not the case for today’s matches between Gladiators and OG. Gladiators managed to secure a second chance against Team Liquid after swiftly defeating OG in two fast matches.

After suffering a stinging defeat against Team Liquid, Gladiators found themselves in the lower bracket, where they faced OG, the first-round winners. Both teams had high expectations for this match, as they had shown significant improvement throughout the season. Despite lacking star power compared to other teams in the Western European DPC, Gladiators and OG had outperformed teams like Team Secret and Nigma throughout the season.

OG started the first match with some comfort picks and implemented a strategy that allowed them to knock out Tundra in just 23 minutes in the first round of the lower bracket. They combined the Chen pick with early damage dealers, while Gladiators opted for a standard fighting lineup.

Despite the seemingly equal drafts, Gladiator’s Storm Spirit, BOOM, started dominating the laning stage and took over the game with the assistance of Ace’s Spirit Breaker and dyrachYO’s Wraith King. OG couldn’t find the space to farm their way back into the game and succumbed to the pressure at the 25-minute mark.

The second match followed a similar pattern, as OG once again opted for early-game heroes to gain an advantage in the mid-game. With Huskar, Clinkz, and Weaver in their lineup, OG was determined to secure an early victory against Gladiators.

However, Gladiators outplayed OG during the laning stage, allowing BOOM to dominate as Queen of Pain, while dyrachYO’s Wraith King contributed to extending the team’s gold lead. When heroes like Huskar and Clinkz fail to establish a strong start in a match, it becomes difficult for them to make a comeback—and in this match, they had limited time to recover. The game ended after just 26 minutes.

With this victory, Gladiators will now face Team Liquid in the DPC Western Europe Regional Finals. These two teams had previously clashed in the tournament, where Liquid managed to overpower Gladiators in two 35-minute matches.
