Gambit Esports introduce a substitute player as fng opts to stay with Alliance for ESL One Birmingham Online

Gambit Esports Considers New Roster Approach with Stand-In Player

Gambit Esports is exploring the possibility of a new roster with the addition of a stand-in player in its Dota 2 lineup, rather than recalling its current captain from another team.

Loan Deal Sends Fng to Alliance

In the last three tournaments, Gambit’s position five player and captain, fng, has been standing in for Alliance. Instead of rejoining his original team, he has now been officially loaned out to the Swedish organization.

Understanding the Difference: Stand-In vs. Loaned Out

The difference between playing as a stand-in and being loaned out is significant in the context of how Gambit is managing its roster. A stand-in player is usually a temporary substitution for a single event, while a loaned-out player is seen as a trial player being tested for a potential long-term spot on the roster.

Gambit made the decision to pull out of the WePlay! Pushka League in April due to poor performances and the need for improvement. Following that, fng stood in for Alliance in the league, while other Gambit players played for different teams. However, it seems that Gambit is now looking to shake things up.

Benching Shachlo and Bringing in Stand-Ins

In addition to loaning out fng to Alliance, Gambit has also benched Maxim “Shachlo” Abramovskikh to accommodate two stand-in players. Shachlo has been playing with Cyber Legacy since May, indicating that this move was already planned before fng’s situation.

Former Wind and Rain captain, Vladimir “yol” Basov, will fill in for fng, while Evgeniy “Blizzy” Ree from Natus Vincere’s inactive roster will play for a CIS rival team.

Alliance has seen success with fng as the hard support alongside S4 and the existing roster. If Alliance’s success continues and Gambit is willing to transfer fng, it wouldn’t be surprising to see fng join Alliance permanently.

Overall, this situation shows Gambit’s experimentation with different players during an uncertain period for both its roster and the Dota scene. It is possible that fng will return to Gambit and captain the same roster after ESL One Birmingham Online.
