Four Teams Officially Eliminated from Contention at Dota 2’s The International 2022 LCQ

The playoffs of The International 2022’s Last Chance Qualifiers for Dota 2 were action-packed as teams battled it out for a spot in TI11. Despite some teams bidding farewell, eight teams are still in the running to qualify for the main event.

The upper bracket matches kicked off the day, with all series going to three games. This meant that the lower bracket teams had to wait for their turn.

The International 2022 LCQ: Day three recap

The upper bracket

Teams that finished in the top four of the group stage secured an upper-bracket slot. Based on the group stage results, the following teams faced off in the quarterfinals:

  • NAVI vs. T1
  • Team Secret vs. Xtreme Gaming
  • Virtus Pro vs. Vici Gaming
  • Team Liquid vs. Polaris Esports

NAVI vs. T1: T1 2-1

NAVI dominated the group stage, while T1 had a rocky start. However, T1 bounced back and secured an upper bracket spot. NAVI won the first game, but T1 made a comeback with two quick victories, thanks to their exceptional Morphling plays.

Team Secret vs. Xtreme Gaming: Team Secret 2-1

The series between Team Secret and Xtreme Gaming was highly anticipated. Both teams were considered favorites, but Team Secret came out on top with their strong performances in the last two matches.

Virtus Pro vs. Vici Gaming: VP 2-1

The series between Virtus Pro and Vici Gaming was intense. It took over 50 minutes for Virtus Pro to secure their victories in the second and third games.

Team Liquid vs. Polaris Esports: Team Liquid 2-1

The series between Team Liquid and Polaris Esports didn’t result in a reverse sweep. Team Liquid won two out of three matches, securing their spot in the upper bracket.

The lower bracket

NAVI vs. Tempest: NAVI 2-0

NAVI quickly defeated Tempest in the lower bracket elimination match, winning both games convincingly.

Xtreme Gaming vs. Infamous: Xtreme Gaming 2-1

Infamous started off strong, winning the first match against Xtreme Gaming. However, Xtreme Gaming made a comeback in the last two matches, securing a 2-1 victory.

Vici Gaming vs. nouns: Vici Gaming 2-0

Vici Gaming dominated the series against nouns, winning both games and advancing to the next round.

Polaris Esports vs. Wildcard: Wildcard 2-0

Wildcard Gaming caused an upset against Polaris Esports, winning both games and advancing to the next round.

The Last Chance Qualifiers will continue with the lower bracket round two, upper bracket semifinals, and lower bracket quarterfinals on day four, Oct. 11.
