Former TI champion believes that the upcoming Dota 2 patch provides an ideal opportunity for Valve to address long-standing issues with the offlane role.

Ti Winner Collapse Wants Changes to the Dota 2 Meta

Collaspse, the TI winner, is back to his best at the Lima Major, but he’s not a fan of the current meta, especially when it comes to the offlane. In a post-series interview on Feb. 23, he expressed his frustration with the way the offlane role has become more team-oriented.

A Shift in Offlane Play

In the past, Collapse was able to “solo carry the game” on his signature hero, Magnus. However, the offlane role now requires players to prioritize buying team-oriented items that provide auras, rather than focusing on getting an early Blink Dagger.

Concerns about the Current Meta

According to Collapse, the current meta is “extremely teamplay oriented,” and while he has adapted to it, he would like to see the offlane role return to its previous playstyle. He believes that this could be achieved by making items that provide auras less appealing.

Collaspse’s Suggestions for Change

Collaspse suggests that Valve should address the issue by buffing items like Force Staff, Eul’s Scepter of Divinity, and Blink Dagger, which require players to actively engage and make decisions. Alternatively, nerfing the items that provide team auras could also be a solution.

However, Collapse anticipates that any changes to the meta won’t happen until after the Major, so he expects to see the dominance of ranged carries like Lina, Nature’s Prophet, and Sniper continue, while late-game melee carries like Faceless Void, Phantom Assassin, and Phantom Lancer will remain less popular picks.
