Former professional Dota 2 player hints at Nigma Galaxy’s imminent transfer to the Chinese DPC

Nigma Galaxy Considers Options After Relegation

According to retired Dota 2 pro Liu “Sylar” Jiajun, Nigma Galaxy may have considered an easy way out after being relegated from division one.

In a video on June 4, Sylar discussed a rumored deal between Nigma and Chinese Dota 2 team Piggy Killer. Allegedly, Nigma offered $100,000 for Piggy’s slot, but the deal fell through as Piggy players didn’t want to send a non-Chinese team to The International from their region.

When asked if he would consider selling the spot, Sylar replied with a “Yes.”

With the Chinese DPC slot no longer an option, Nigma will be competing in Western Europe’s division two once again. Although Nigma’s region-hop was unsuccessful, their star mid-laner SumaiL joined Team Aster after an eye-opening experience in Dota 2’s Berlin Major. SumaiL quickly adapted to the region and had a fantastic season with Aster, with an almost flawless run in the DPC.

Relocating to another region has become a valuable option for teams, as it can lead to easier Major qualification. While China has historically been one of the strongest Dota 2 regions, its reputation has recently declined.

With some professionals even blaming streaming for China’s Dota 2 downfall, teams may start considering the Chinese Dota league as a potential relocation destination.
