BOOM Esports Signs SA Superstars for Dota 2 Roster

The South American Dota 2 scene faced a tough blow at The International 2023, placing no higher than 13th after an impressive fifth-place finish in 2022. With uncertainty in the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC), many organizations decided to step back. However, BOOM Esports emerged as a new contender in the arena.

New Additions to the BOOM Esports Squad

BOOM, an organization from Southeast Asia (SEA), made a big announcement today with the signing of two South American superstars, Christian “Pakazs” Savina and Farith “Matthew” Puente.

BOOM Esports Showcases Its New Players

In a Twitter post, BOOM officially welcomed Pakazs and Matthew to their squad, emphasizing their hunger for victory in the upcoming season. The esports community wondered whether BOOM was shifting its focus to South America for the season, to which the organization responded with another tweet introducing two more team members.

BOOM Esports’ Move to South America

Jordan “SLATEM$” Vega and Romel “Mjz” Quinteros Rojas from Thunder Awaken joined the new BOOM squad, indicating the organization’s decision to move its Dota 2 operations to South America for the 2024 competitive season.

BOOM Esports’ Expansion Amidst DPC Uncertainty

After TI 2023, beastcoast and Evil Geniuses scaled back their Dota 2 operations due to disappointing results and the blurred direction of the competitive landscape without the Dota Pro Circuit. BOOM’s move to South America marks a significant milestone for the organization, which has been active in SEA since 2017.

Competing in ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 open qualifiers, BOOM Esports’ South American Dota 2 roster aims to make their mark in the upcoming tournament, which concludes on November 15.
