Fnatic adds EternaLEnVy, Xcalibur, and pieliedie to Dota 2 roster

Fnatic’s Dota 2 Team Adds Free Agents EternaLEnVy, Xcalibur, and pieliedie to Roster

Fnatic’s Dota 2 team has made some big changes for the upcoming competitive season. Free agents Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao, Steve “Xcalibur” Ye, and Johan “pieliedie” Åström have joined the team, along with team captain Chong “Ohaiyo” Xin Khoo and support player Djardel Jicko “DJ” Mampusti.

The new roster comes after Fnatic’s disappointing performance in The International 7, where they finished last in the group stage and missed the main event entirely. Ohaiyo expressed his thoughts on the past year and their performance in TI7, stating that they were lacking a proper playstyle and in-game leader.

A New Lineup with Exciting Prospects

This new lineup is notable for a couple of reasons. It marks the first time that Fnatic has taken in a North American Dota player, and the first time since 2015 that a European player has joined the team. The last European player to play for Fnatic was Dominik “Black^” Reitmeier, who went on to play for Southeast Asian squad Team Faceless.

For EternaLEnVy and pieliedie, this is their first time playing for Fnatic after previously playing for Cloud9. Xcalibur, on the other hand, had a stint with Fnatic back in 2014 as a stand-in player. He is known for his aggressive and effective playstyle as Tinker and Meepo.

Clues Leading to the Announcement

The announcement of the new lineup comes not long after a Reddit user noticed that the Cloud9 team page no longer had a link to their Dota squad. Additionally, former Fnatic player Adam “343” Shah hinted at the new Fnatic lineup on his stream last week.

With these new additions, Fnatic’s Dota 2 team is looking forward to a fresh start in the upcoming season.
