Evil Geniuses Knock Out T1 Following Delay Caused by ‘Anonymous Threat’ at WePlay Esports AniMajor

Production Overcomes Threat to Resume AniMajor Matches

Earlier today, WePlay Esports faced a potential threat near the hotel where AniMajor teams, staff, and talent were staying. However, production decided to proceed with the event after ensuring everyone’s safety.

All Dota 2 teams, staff, and talent were evacuated from the hotel due to the anonymous threat, causing a delay in the match schedule. Once WePlay received the all clear, the lower bracket finals between Evil Geniuses and T1 took place, with EG emerging victorious in a 2-1 match.

T1, the only directly qualified team for the AniMajor playoffs, faced consecutive losses against PSG.LGD and EG, ultimately securing a third-place finish. This performance marked a significant improvement compared to their early exit in the previous ONE Esports Singapore Major.

EG, coming off their second-place finish at the Singapore Major, will now compete in the AniMajor finals. Both EG and LGD have secured their spots at The International 10 and will battle in Sweden for a share of the over $40 million prize pool, starting on Aug. 5.
