ONE Esports Singapore Major: Team Secret Swept by Invictus Gaming, Evil Geniuses Secure Spot in Grand Finals
The final day of the ONE Esports Singapore Major saw Team Secret facing off against Neon Esports, only to be swept aside by Invictus Gaming. In another Chinese showdown, Evil Geniuses defeated PSG.LGD 2-1 to secure their place in the grand finals.
Evil Geniuses Dominates LGD in Game One
In the first game, EG dominated LGD with Abed’s Puck securing seven kills in just nine minutes. Arteezy made a non-meta Razor pick and the NA team took the opening game. This victory marked the third series in a row where EG claimed the first game, having previously swept Fnatic and IG.
However, LGD fought back in game two with Ame’s Phantom Assassin and XinQ’s Pangolier, turning the late-game tide to even up the series. Despite strong performances from Arteezy and Abed on Alchemist and Void Spirit, LGD managed to make a comeback.
EG Secures Victory in Deciding Game
In the deciding game, EG gradually built up a lead and countered LGD’s decision to stick with Ame’s Phantom Assassin. Abed’s signature Storm Spirit, Arteezy’s Bloodseeker, and the excellent play from each player secured the win for EG.
On the other hand, Team Secret didn’t fare as well in their matchup against Invictus Gaming. IG played strategically and capitalized on the perfect moments to secure victories in both games.
In game two, Secret led for most of the match, but ultimately fell in the final minutes to IG’s strong core led by flyfly’s Phantom Lancer. This loss resulted in Team Secret finishing in fourth place, earning $50,000 and 350 Dota Pro Circuit points. They were the only European team to make it past the first round of the playoffs.
LGD and IG to Battle in Lower Bracket Finals
In the lower bracket finals, Invictus Gaming and PSG.LGD will face off for a chance to have a rematch with Evil Geniuses and one more opportunity to claim the Singapore Major title.
