EternalEnvy Joins Team Team Despite MDL Disneyland Paris Major Qualifier Loss

The Flying Penguins Dota 2 Team Disbands Once Again

The Dota 2 scene in North America is experiencing significant roster changes as the promising team, Flying Penguins, officially disbands.

Failure to Qualify for DreamLeague Season 11 Major

After failing to qualify for the DreamLeague Season 11 Major, several players left the Penguins, which led to the disbandment of the team by the legendary Dota veteran and captain, Jacky “EternalEnvy” Mao.

New Roster Formation

However, just a day later, three experienced veterans joined forces with EternalEnvy and Eric “Ryoya” Dong to participate in the MDL Disneyland Paris Major Open Qualifiers. David “MoonMeander” Tan, Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk, and Pittner “bone7” Armand joined the team, but unfortunately, they did not achieve any success.

Final Disbandment of the Penguins Roster

In the first round of the NA Open Qualifiers, the Penguins were defeated by another relatively small, yet well-known stack, Team Team. Following this loss on March 23, the Penguins roster disbanded permanently.

EternalEnvy Finds a New Team

While some players like Ryoya and bone7 quickly found new teams, EternalEnvy took to Twitter to seek a new squad, even expressing his willingness to switch regions if needed.

However, he was approached by the very team that caused his squad to disband. Team Team had been searching for a replacement for Sammy “Sammyboy” Anderson, their carry player who left the team on March 14. They had previously shown interest in signing Ryoya after the initial breakup of the Penguins, but with EternalEnvy available, they shifted their focus towards acquiring him.

After their victory against the Penguins, Team Team received a direct invite to the closed NA Qualifiers, allowing them to withdraw from the bracket and giving them time to integrate their former opponents into the team.

The future of this partnership is uncertain, but if Team Team performs well and makes a push into the next Major, this roster might become permanent.

Team Team will face other top teams in North America such as Evil Geniuses, J Storm, and a revamped Forward Gaming that includes some of EternalEnvy’s former Penguins teammates. Matches will take place from March 30 to April 1.
