EternaLEnVy and Ryoya bid farewell to the competitive Dota 2 scene

Retirement of North American Dota 2 Players: EternaLEnVy and Ryoya

Two well-known figures in the North American Dota 2 scene, EternaLEnVy and Ryoya, have announced their retirement from competitive play today.

Ryoya, who has been actively competing since 2014, revealed that he no longer finds the same enjoyment in playing Dota 2. In his most recent stint with simply TOOBASED, they couldn’t achieve a high-ranking position in the NA DPC after being promoted to the first division. As a result, they were ultimately demoted to the second division.

EternaLEnVy, on the other hand, has been absent from the competitive scene for a while. Since his glory days with Team Secret in 2015, he has played for several teams including Fnatic, Cloud9, compLexity, and beastcoast. EternalEnVy also participated in various stacks.

EternalEnVy has been missed by fans since 2021, and a recent Reddit post paid tribute to his professional playing career. Known for his high-risk, high-reward plays, watching EternalEnVy was always an entertaining experience. Memes such as “fiftEE/fifEE” and “Scientists Baffled” have become part of EternalEnVy’s legacy in the Dota 2 community.

Ryoya and EternalEnVy have extensive resumes in the North American Dota 2 scene. These two players have been part of the scene since the game’s inception. However, it’s natural for players to reach a point where they struggle to find the motivation to continue improving. Dota 2 is an ever-evolving game, and staying at the top requires constant effort. While these legendary players may have officially retired, there’s no doubt that they have inspired countless others to strive for greatness.
