ESL One Katowice 2019 brings Dota 2 excitement back to Poland

ESL One Katowice 2019: A Look into the Future

ESL One Hamburg is about to commence on Oct. 23, but the tournament organizer has already set its sights on the future. ESL One Katowice 2019 has been announced, following the tremendous success of last year’s event in Poland. This comes as no surprise, as ESL has chosen the same location for this upcoming tournament.

The event will take place from Feb. 19 to 24 at Spodek Arena, featuring 12 teams competing for a prize pool of $300,000. Virtus Pro dominated Katowice 2018, but this time around, the event will implement ESL’s fresh event format. With more matches and increased competition, fans can expect an even more thrilling showdown.

In the standard ESL fashion, eight teams will receive direct invitations, while the remaining four spots will be filled by the winners of the regional open qualifiers in Europe, North America, China, and Southeast Asia.

Senior Vice President of Product at ESL, Ulrich Schulze, expressed excitement about returning to the legendary Spodek Arena in Katowice and creating another unforgettable weekend of esports. The passionate fans who flock to Poland from all over Europe generate an electric atmosphere in the arena.

Tickets for ESL One Katowice 2019 are currently available for purchase on ESL’s website. The group stage will take place from Feb. 19 to 21, leaving Feb. 22 to 24 for the playoffs and grand finals.
