ESL One Dota Valve Minor Returns to Malaysia

ESL One Genting Returns to Malaysia for Dota 2 Pro Circuit

ESL One Genting, the popular Dota 2 tournament, will be returning to Malaysia next year as part of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit. The event will be held at Resorts World Genting, a four-star hotel and resort in the Genting Highlands.

The tournament will feature an increased prize pool of $400,000, up $150,000 from last year. It will run for six days, with the playoffs taking place over the final three days. The group stage format is yet to be announced, but the playoffs will be decided through single elimination.

As an official Valve Minor, ESL One Genting will also award a total of 400 Pro Circuit points, giving teams more opportunities to qualify for The International 8.

Unlike previous years, this edition of the tournament will have 16 teams instead of eight, making it one of the game’s bigger tournaments. The official distribution of the prize pool has not been announced yet, but at least half of the field can expect a significant share.

Past champions and strong teams like Newbee and Team Liquid are expected to receive invites, while the remaining spots will be filled through regional qualifiers. Valve’s rules on the Pro Circuit stipulate that six qualifier slots are mandatory.

Last year’s ESL One Genting was well-received by the Malaysian fanbase, indicating the growing popularity of Dota 2 in Southeast Asia. With Valve continuing to add more tournaments to the Pro Circuit, it is likely that ESL One will return to the region in the future.

Other ESL Pro Circuit Events

In addition to ESL One Genting, ESL has three other Pro Circuit events scheduled for the season. ESL One Hamburg, classified as a Valve Major, will take place later this month. The locations for the other two events have yet to be announced.
