ESL One Dota 2 tournament relocates from Frankfurt to Hamburg

ESL One Frankfurt Relocates to Hamburg, Germany

This year, ESL One Frankfurt, the biggest Dota 2 tournament in Europe, will be held in Hamburg. The event will take place at Hamburg’s Barclaycard-Arena, offering fans a new and exciting venue. With a prize pool of $250,000, ESL One Hamburg will continue to attract top-notch teams and provide visitors with a festival-like experience.

“We are confident in our new venue,” says Ulrich Schultze, VP of pro gaming at ESL. “ESL One Hamburg will, once more, figure prominently among the world’s best Dota 2 competitions.”

ESL’s Dota 2 tournaments are known for their outstanding prize pools, LAN play, and participation of the world’s best teams. These premier tournaments, organized by established franchises, are considered especially prestigious.

In January, ESL hosted its ESL One Genting tournament in Malaysia, which received positive feedback from the community. The event witnessed Digital Chaos from the US emerging victorious over the Chinese team Newbee. It was the biggest esports tournament in Malaysia to date.

While Hamburg’s Barclayscard-Arena offers a smaller capacity of 16,000 seats compared to Frankfurt’s Commerzbank-Arena, which could accommodate over 50,000 spectators, the new venue will still provide an exciting atmosphere for Dota 2 enthusiasts. It is important to note that Cologne’s Lanxess Arena, with just under 20,000 seats, has successfully hosted ESL One Cologne CS:GO tournament, proving that size does not always define the quality of the event.
