In a recent blog post, Valve announced that the Compendium will officially conclude on November 16, 2023, giving fans ample time to complete challenges and claim rewards.
2023 Compendium Closure and Team Spirit’s Victory
Valve’s blog post not only confirmed the end of the 2023 Compendium but also extended congratulations to the champions of TI 2023, Team Spirit. However, it did not provide any information about the highly anticipated upcoming update for Dota 2.
Anticipation for Future Content and Prize Pool Concerns
Although players were disappointed with the lack of real content in the TI Compendium, Valve reassured fans that there would be more content after the conclusion of TI. However, it seems that any news about the next update will have to wait until the Compendium is no longer part of the game. Additionally, concerns about TI 2023’s prize pool were addressed, with fans hoping to see the participating teams receive more financial rewards for their efforts.
Special Champion Edition Sticker Capsules for Team Spirit
To compensate for the decline in TI’s prize pool, Valve introduced Special Champion Edition sticker capsules for Team Spirit in Dota 2. When players purchase these capsules, 50% of the sales will directly support the champions. This means that the champions will potentially earn more than the first-place prize of $1.4 million. However, other teams in the event will not benefit from this initiative, making the Compendium a disappointment for the majority of Dota professionals.
Changes to Dota 2’s Competitive Calendar in 2024
In 2024, the Dota 2 scene will undergo a new model as the Dota Pro Circuit comes to an end. This will allow more third-party events to secure slots on the game’s competitive calendar, providing opportunities for additional tournaments and competition.
