Changes in Dota 2 Update 7.23e
The latest Dota 2 update, 7.23e, has officially removed experience talents from the game. This update addresses the expedited experience gain that came with the Outlanders update.
Impact of the Outposts
The introduction of outposts in the 7.23 patch has had a significant influence on the meta. The neutral objective was extremely valuable, leading to a meta centered around constant fighting and brawling. Heroes like Drow Ranger and Treant Protector were reworked to be better in combat and less effective at split-pushing.

The experience given by outposts has been nerfed in three consecutive sub-patches. Patch 7.23e includes the most significant nerf, changing the experience gain interval to 10 minutes instead of five. Additionally, all experience talents in the game have been replaced, negatively impacting heroes like Techies and Weaver. The two shrines on the right side of the map have also been removed.
Response to the Fast-Paced Meta
These changes are a response to the fast-paced meta that has developed as a result of outposts. Heroes with low cooldowns who can constantly engage in fights have risen to the top in terms of pick and win rates. The game has become a checklist of objectives that every player must follow to avoid losing. These changes aim to introduce more variety in hero picks and make room for massive teamfight heroes like Enigma.
Furthermore, a few top-tier heroes such as Drow Ranger, Ursa, Snapfire, Treant Protector, and Void Spirit have received nerfs to balance their power. These heroes have dominated games at all skill levels and are considered some of the strongest picks in Immortal-level matches.
