Dota 2 Professional Triggered a Massive Backlash with an Extremely Tasteless Comment, Leaving Fans Disappointed

Pro Dota 2 Player Faces Backlash for In-Game Abuse

A recent ranked match in Dota 2 took a sour turn when pro player Andrew “Kom4rt” Ivanchikov and streamer Steve “Xcalibur” Ye faced a crushing defeat. However, the aftermath of the match was far from over.

Player Crosses the Line with Disrespectful Remarks

Amidst the loss, Kom4rt targeted Xcalibur with abusive messages in the game’s chat. And to make matters worse, he disrespectfully invoked the name of the late community figure Alaan “SexyBamboe” Faraj, who passed away in December 2021.

Outrage from Fans and Fellow Players

Kom4rt’s comments sparked outrage among fans, who condemned his actions. Other high-level players, notorious for their behavior in public matches, such as Turtoi “Arise” Ionut, also expressed their opinion that Kom4rt deserved a permanent ban for crossing the line.

Xcalibur Speaks Out and Raises Awareness

Xcalibur shared a screenshot of the chat on Twitter, sarcastically describing it as “classy.” He then revealed his struggles with self-doubt, which he believes is common among high-MMR Dota 2 players. He encouraged others to treat people with kindness and not take their words to heart.

The incident was further compounded by the recent mourning within the Dota 2 community following the tragic death of Mi “Yammers” Hongwei.

Players participating in the Dota Pro Circuit, or even those aspiring to do so, should be held to a higher standard in terms of their actions and words during games. While it’s natural to get frustrated at times, players must always remember that they are interacting with another human being. Comments like these cannot be overlooked, even in public matches where civility may not be expected.
