Valve Announces Release Date for Dota 2 Patch 7.34e
Fans were disappointed when Valve released the Compendium patch in September without any events or skins. Despite promising a bigger update after TI 2023, the most recent patch announcement suggested otherwise.
In an in-game notification, Valve announced that the next update on the Dota 2 calendar, patch 7.34e, will be released on November 20. However, the Dota 2 community expressed mixed feelings upon seeing the patch’s name, as a letter patch typically indicates minor balance changes.
Letter patches are usually follow-ups to major releases where Valve fine-tunes the meta with numeric changes. While these updates can impact the meta, most players were hoping for an event and cosmetics, which were missing from the TI 2023 update.
It appears that the highly anticipated cosmetics-focused update could arrive in December. Dota 2’s Workshop Call to Arms initiative ends on November 26, and with the help of community votes, Valve should soon decide which skins will make it into the game, increasing the chances of a December release.
Valve’s TI12 battle pass replacement was seen as disrespectful to Dota 2 players, resulting in a flatlined prize pool for TI 2023 after the disappointing Compendium 2023 update. In light of these developments, Dota 2 players have tempered their enthusiasm and are eager for a patch that can spice up the stale meta.

The Dota 2 Patch 7.34 was released in early August, and both professionals and casual players focused on the meta, with certain heroes remaining uncontested at TI 2023. When certain heroes become favorites in a patch, most matches end up using the same pool of heroes, leading to boredom among fans.
