Dota 2 community embraces Taylor Swift-level enthusiasm as Valve unveils staggering TI12 ticket prices

Valve’s Reveal of The International 2023 Ticket Prices Sparks Outrage

The Dota 2 community was shocked when Valve announced the ticket prices for The International 2023. Comparisons were drawn to other esports tournaments and even live concerts, such as Taylor Swift’s performances.

Fluid Pricing System and High Costs

TI 2023 adopted a different format this year, resulting in a perplexing pricing structure. Attending the Playoffs section of the event will cost $99 per day, while the main event will be sold as a three-day bundle for $699.

Comparisons and Cost Analyses

Fans interested in the full TI experience will have to pay nearly $1,000 for their tickets. This is a staggering amount when compared to other forms of entertainment. Some Dota 2 fans came forward sharing cost analyses of past events they attended. One fan mentioned the CS:GO Major in 2019, which had a $90 price tag for four days.

Similarities to Taylor Swift Concerts

Surprisingly, Taylor Swift’s concerts, known for their high prices, are only comparable to TI when it comes to VIP ticket pricing. VIP passes for Taylor Swift events can cost up to $900, granting fans unique perspectives. However, TI12 attendees will only receive an in-game chest as a reward.

Valve’s decision to increase ticket prices for TI has upset many fans who would have loved to attend the event. In the mid-2010s, attending an entire TI cost around $300-500, but prices have risen sharply in recent years, making it difficult for passionate Dota 2 fans to attend.

The Dota 2 TI12 Regional Qualifiers are currently underway. Once the qualified teams are determined, they will travel to Seattle for a chance at the Aegis of Champions.
