Controversial Removal of Old G from Dota 2 Pro Circuit Summer Tour Closed Qualifier by PGL

Old G Disqualified from Dota 2 Summer Qualifiers Due to Twitter Outburst

Old G has been disqualified from the upcoming closed qualifiers of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit’s summer season. This comes after Sébastien “Ceb” Debs went on an aggressive Twitter outburst on April 26, when PGL refused to let Old G play their tiebreaker match with more stand-ins than allowed.

Twitter Outburst Classed as Harassment by PGL

In a May 8 announcement, PGL classified Ceb’s actions as harassment and stated that such behavior would not be tolerated. As a result, Old G was booted from the closed qualifiers, meaning they will have to go through the Open Qualifiers again if they choose to stay together as a team.

Implications of the Initial Ruling

The initial ruling against Old G meant that the team would be automatically relegated, missing their chance to remain in division two. This was due to two members of their roster attending the Berlin Major.

Old G started off as a laid-back team that allowed Ceb, Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, and Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen, who are two-time TI winners, to experience competitive Dota 2. However, the project has encountered numerous roadblocks and initially failed to qualify for the second division during the winter tour.

At the moment, Ceb has not released a follow-up statement, and Old G has not revealed their plans for the upcoming DPC summer season. While going through the open qualifiers again may be challenging for the team, their passion for the game may motivate them to persevere and attempt to qualify for the second division once more.
