Ceb’s Emergency Eye Surgery Forces Miss for Dota 2’s The International 10; miCKe Steps In

OG’s Ceb Forced to Withdraw from The International 10 Due to Emergency Eye Surgery

OG, the renowned Dota 2 team, has been hit with another setback as Ceb, one of their star players from their back-to-back International-winning roster, will be unable to compete in The International 10 due to the need for emergency eye surgery. The organization made this announcement today, just six days before OG was set to go for their third-straight Aegis of Champions. In Ceb’s absence, Michael “miCKe” Vu from Team Liquid will be joining OG as the official stand-in for the event.

Race Against Time for Recovery

During a routine medical check-up, Ceb’s doctor discovered that he was suffering from a retinal detachment in his left eye, which posed the risk of permanent damage or total loss of vision within a few hours. The only solution presented was emergency surgery, which Ceb decided to undergo immediately. His journey to recovery has been a challenging one, with daily battles against pain and fatigue. Ceb remains optimistic about attending TI but acknowledges the uncertainty surrounding his playing condition.

OG’s Hopeful Outlook

OG has taken the necessary steps to ensure Ceb’s well-being and is allowing him time to recover. While it is uncertain whether Ceb will be cleared to play in The International 10, OG and Ceb are hopeful for a positive outcome. The team will wait for the doctor’s verdict before making any final decisions. OG values the health and safety of its players above all else and will not rush Ceb back unless he is fully recovered and not at risk. In the meantime, Ceb is doing everything in his power to expedite his recovery and return to compete at TI10.

OG’s Temporary Solution

In the wake of Ceb’s absence, OG has brought in miCKe as a temporary stand-in. This arrangement was made possible through collaboration between OG, Liquid, and Valve. MiCKe joined OG in Portugal shortly after Ceb left for his surgery. OG’s coach Misha had previously stood in for Ceb during a recent showmatch, fueling speculation about Ceb’s potential absence. MiCKe’s presence in private lobbies with the other OG players, as well as his preference for playing offlane heroes, further hinted at his role as the stand-in.

Looking Ahead

Despite the setback, Ceb maintains a positive attitude. He sees this challenge as an opportunity to grow and is grateful for the support and love he has received from fans. OG will be competing as one of the six regional qualifier teams at The International, which will take place from October 7 to 17 in Bucharest.
