BetBoom pulls out: Another Dota 2 lineup disbands

BetBoom to Part Ways with Dota 2 Roster: Post-TI Shuffle Begins

After The International, teams in the Dota 2 scene brace themselves for the post-TI shuffle. BetBoom, the Russian betting organization, recently announced that it will be parting ways with the Dota 2 roster it signed back in April.

The Departure

Just days after the event, BetBoom made the announcement on Twitter. It thanked the roster and expressed hope to see them again competing in the tier-1 scene. The official statement can be found here.

From Sponsor to Success

BetBoom entered the Dota Pro Circuit this year as a sponsor and competitor. The organization saw immediate success, becoming the top Dota 2 team from Eastern Europe and finishing in seventh place at the Stockholm Major. However, their performance slowed down as the season progressed, and they were eventually eliminated in a tie for 19th place at TI11.

Looking Towards the Future

Now that the BetBoom roster is back on the free-agent market, the organization will have to make new decisions. However, they still have a valuable asset in SoNNeikO, who holds the team’s Division I slot for the upcoming DPC season. This means that the roster will not have to go through open qualifiers or Division II to compete for a spot at the first Major of the year.

Based on their performance, it is likely that at least one player will be replaced. The next few months will be filled with negotiations as teams across regions look to strengthen their lineups for the upcoming season.
