Impact of COVID-19 on Beastcoast’s Performance at TI11

Early reports have been confirmed as beastcoast reveals that multiple players have contracted COVID-19 while competing at The International 2022.

Not only does this mean that some of the bc’s players will have to play their upcoming series against PSG.LGD from isolation rooms, but the team will also face a handicap.

According to beastcoast management, one player reported having a sore throat after eliminating Evil Geniuses in the previous round. Rapid COVID tests were conducted, and it was discovered that multiple players had tested positive.

Valve was immediately notified, and the team was ordered to play from isolation. However, due to limitations set by Valve, beastcoast will be unable to have at least one of their coaches present during their next series.

“We immediately reported to Valve upon confirmed positive results,” stated beastcoast. “Unfortunately, due to Valve’s limitations, our coach will not be provided an isolated room with a PC. This means we will be forced to play tomorrow’s games without our coach. This is extremely disappointing, but we will still strive to do our best on the world stage.”

Although beastcoast’s situation seems less severe than that of Royal Never Give Up (RNG), precautions should still be taken to ensure the safety of other teams. A leaked internal report indicated that at least three players tested positive in the last 24 hours, suggesting a potentially false negative situation.

The current condition of beastcoast’s players who tested positive is unknown.

Concerns About the Impact of COVID-19 on Competitive Play

In the case of RNG, severe coughs, fevers, and other symptoms made it difficult for some of the players to perform at a high level. Despite their struggles, the Chinese team fought hard for nearly two hours before being eliminated by Entity. The potential impact of COVID-19 cannot be ignored.

Beastcoast is scheduled to play LGD in the opening series of TI11’s fourth day, but now there is the potential for the results to be affected by this external factor.
