Beastcoast dominates Fighting Pandas, secures top-8 spot in MDL Chengdu Major

South American Dota 2 Shines at MDL Chengdu Major

South American Dota 2 teams have long been underestimated, but Infamous changed that perception at The International 2019. Now, under new organization beastcoast, the South American squad continues to impress. With a decisive 2-0 victory over Fighting PandaS at the MDL Chengdu Major, beastcoast proves they are a force to be reckoned with.

A Unique Strategy

Beastcoast utilizes a four-protect-one strategy, with Hector Antonio “K1” Rodriguez taking on the role of the primary farmer. This strategy, popularized by Chinese teams in the past, is given a South American flair by beastcoast, resulting in an electrifying and unpredictable playstyle. The team’s four other players perform incredible feats while K1 swoops in to finish off opponents.

A Dominant Performance

Beastcoast flawlessly executed their strategy against PandaS, with K1 leading the charge on heroes like Alchemist and Wraith King. PandaS struggled to respond to the aggressive Peruvian playstyle, constantly being disrupted and forced into unfavorable situations. As a result, PandaS was eliminated from the Major.

The Strength of the Team

While K1 and Chris Luck receive much of the attention, the rest of the beastcoast team play crucial roles in their success. Adrian “Wisper” Dobles’s phenomenal play on Sand King in game two helped set up crucial kills and allowed beastcoast to execute their gameplan effectively.

Beastcoast now moves forward in the competition, having secured a guaranteed $40,000 and 450 DPC points. Their next challenge will be against Invictus Gaming, another aggressive team with their own rising star, Zhou “Emo” Yi.

Beastcoast has already proven they can compete with top teams and make history. On November 22, they will strive to do so again and potentially knock out a Chinese team on Chinese soil.
