Alliance Emerges as Winners of MegaFon Champions League Season 2

Experience Reigns in MegaFon Champions League Season 2

The MegaFon Champions League Season 2 was filled with lesser known and thrown-together teams, but it was clear that experience played a major role in the tournament.

With 16 teams competing in a single-elimination format, the competition was intense right from the start. While there were no major upsets, some of the top teams faced unexpected challenges from the underdogs in the opening round.

Quarterfinals

In the top half of the bracket, Team Spirit faced off against Unchained Esports. UE, a relatively new organization, put up a fight against Spirit despite their initial struggles. While Spirit won the first game easily, UE bounced back in the second game. The final game was a close battle, but Spirit emerged victorious in the end.

In the other half of the bracket, Alliance had to come back against Napalm to secure their spot in the next round. After losing the opening game, Alliance dominated the next two matches.

Semifinals

Three teams—HG, Alliance, and Spirit—found themselves competing against each other in the semifinals, as they were also participating in I Can’t Believe It’s Not Summit at the same time. HG showcased their dominance by sweeping Bursaspor Esports in a 2-0 victory. As for Spirit, they didn’t perform at their best due to fatigue from their previous tournament win. Alliance took advantage of Spirit’s tired play and secured their place in the finals.

Grand Finals

Alliance started the grand finals strong, dismantling HG in the opening game. However, HG put up a fight in the second game, leading to a highly competitive match. Ultimately, Alliance regrouped and dominated in the third game, claiming victory with a 2-1 win.

This win concludes Alliance’s successful 2018 year in Dota 2, ending on a high note.
