Ad Finem’s Dota 2 team chooses not to renew their contracts

Greek Dota 2 Team Parts Ways with Ad Finem

The top Dota 2 team from Greece, known for its talented roster, has decided to go their separate ways from Ad Finem.

After more than a year with Ad Finem, the Greek team’s players, Omar “Madara” Dabachach, Dimitris “ThuG” Plivouris, Kharis “SkyLark” Zafiriou, Verros “Maybe Next Time” Apostolos, and Giorgos “SsaSpartan” Giannakopoulos, will not be renewing their contracts with the organization. Instead, they will be seeking opportunities with different organizations outside of Greece.

Ad Finem gained recognition in 2016 for their performance in Dota 2, making it to the grand finals of the Boston Major in December. They defeated strong teams like Newbee and Digital Chaos on their way to the finals. Unfortunately, they were ultimately defeated by OG, the winners of the event, in the grand finals with a score of 3-1.

Despite narrowly missing the chance to qualify for the Manila Major and The International 6 event, both prestigious Dota 2 events, the Greek roster’s journey to the top was evident.

Since the announcement on March 6, there has been speculation about which organization the team will join. There were rumors about a possible move to German-based esports organization Penta Sports, but according to Madara, these rumors have been denied.

The former Ad Finem roster received an invitation to the Kiev Major, the first Dota 2 Major of 2017. This means that the Greek team will be representing their new organization at the $3 million event.
