Abed Achieves Milestone: First Player to Reach 10,000 MMR in Dota 2

The First Player in the World to Enter the 10,000 MMR Bracket in Dota 2

Matchmaking in most multiplayer games can be a chore, but in Dota 2 players take pride in their matchmaking rating (MMR) and strive to reach the top of the leaderboards.

In the past year, the highest level any player had reached was the 9,000 MMR bracket. However, Digital Chaos’ mid laner Abed Azel Yusop has now broken into the 10,000 MMR bracket, becoming the first player in the world to do so.

The 16-year-old Filipino player, who resides in North America, has won 17 out of his last 21 games, catapulting himself to the top of the regional leaderboard.

In Dota 2, players who quickly climb the ranked matchmaking leaderboard often go on to become prominent figures in the game’s competitive scene. Many rising stars have made a name for themselves through their success in ranked matches before being picked up by professional teams.

A famous example of this is Team Liquid’s mid laner Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi, who gained recognition as one of the top players on the European leaderboard before winning the Frankfurt Major with OG in late 2015. Miracle- was also the first player to break into the 9,000 MMR bracket in May 2016, solidifying his status as one of the world’s top individual players.

Now, Abed will be competing with Digital Chaos in the upcoming North American qualifiers for The International 7, taking place from June 26 to 29.
