A Near Collapse Threatened Team Spirit’s TI11 Campaign Due to a Major Issue

Team Spirit overcomes challenges to bounce back in the new season

Team Spirit, the reigning champions of The International 10, faced a difficult season in 2022. Despite starting strong, their performance declined as the season progressed.

Due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the DPC EEU 2021/2022 Tour 2 was postponed, causing additional challenges for Spirit, especially for players Yatoro and Mira who are from Ukraine. The team had to relocate to Serbia to continue competing.

In a season re-cap video, offlaner Collapse explained that the team realized they needed to address the challenges they were facing in order to prevent further setbacks in their careers.

As a result, Spirit engaged in extensive practice sessions, which ultimately had a negative impact on their performances. They finished ninth at the Stockholm Major, suffering a significant blow.

Manager Ruslana “DKLana” Berest revealed that the team even considered disbanding at one point. However, they managed to find strength and unity, finishing third in the DPC EEU 2021/2022 Tour 3.

Despite missing a direct invite to TI11, Spirit displayed their championship mentality by securing second place at the Riyadh Masters and winning the Arlington Major.

After a month-long break, the team faced internal conflicts during boot camp, leading to poor performance at TI11 and the departure of player TORONTOTOKYO.

However, Team Spirit has started the new season on a positive note. They achieved a victory against Na’Vi in their first series, showing promising signs for the future.
