A Dota 2 champion is quietly practicing unconventional heroes before the Bali Major

Two-time TI winner ana spotted practicing offlane heroes

Anathan “ana” Pham, a legendary player for OG and a two-time winner of The International (TI), has a unique routine compared to other professional Dota 2 players. Instead of competing throughout the year in the Dota Pro Circuit, ana only returns to professional play when The International approaches. It seems that this may be the case again in 2023.

Impressive win rate in ranked matches

In recent ranked matches, ana has been seen practicing offlane heroes and has achieved an impressive win rate of 61.8% since May 21. This suggests that he is consistently performing well in his games.

Ana’s return catches the attention of qojqva

Max “qojqva” Bröcker, during a livestream, initially dismissed ana’s return as him simply playing Auto Chess online. However, when qojqva reviewed ana’s recent matches, he was impressed by the number of games ana had played so far.

Ana’s switch to the offlane role

While it may not be surprising for ana’s dedicated fans to see him return, what caught their attention was the fact that ana was playing in the offlane position instead of his usual carry role. Ana has been focusing on improving his skills with popular offlane heroes like Magnus, who has been highly contested in the summer season of the DPC.

Possible early return for The International at the Bali Major

During the 2022 season, ana made a last-minute return to Dota 2 and joined T1 to prepare for The International 11 qualifiers alongside Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen. With the next TI still a few months away, ana’s newfound interest in the offlane position could be a sign of an earlier return at the Bali Major.

Difficulties for offlaners with visa process

Several offlaners, including Neta “33” Shapira from Tundra Esports and Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin from OG, may face challenges with the visa process for the Bali Major in Indonesia. It is speculated that these teams may have reached out to ana in case one of their players is unable to travel to the LAN event.
