A baffling bug in Dota 2 appears to be reducing players’ MMR post March update

The MMR Bug: Losing Thousands of Points in Dota 2

Losing MMR in Dota 2 is already frustrating, but what if you lost thousands of it? In a rare turn of events, a bug has caused players to experience a significant drop in their MMR.

A First of Its Kind Bug

This bug has affected former pro player Inflame, who had a high MMR between 8,000 and 9,000. After playing recalibration games, the quality of matches dropped down to Legend. But that wasn’t the worst part. He won four out of the next six games and ended up with a lowly 10 MMR and a calibration at Herald I.

The Cause of the Bug

The cause of this bug is currently unknown. Some players speculate that it might be related to playing matches with the new hero, Muerta, but no official confirmation has been made yet.

Valve’s Role in Resolving the Issue

It will be interesting to see if Valve can identify and fix the root cause of this Dota 2 bug. If left unresolved, it could potentially wreak havoc on thousands of accounts and disrupt lower-rank brackets.
