3 players dropped by BOOM Esports despite remarkable TI11 campaign – a roster shakeup

BOOM Esports Dota 2 Roster Undergoes Changes

BOOM Esports, a prominent team in the world of Dota 2, has recently made some significant changes to their roster. In a span of just four days, the organization bid farewell to JaCkky, TIMS, and skem, three key players.

A Dream Season Cut Short

With the addition of JaCkky in February 2022, BOOM Esports made a strong impact on the Southeast Asian Dota 2 scene. The team performed exceptionally well, securing top placements in the last two DPC tours. Even in the first DPC tour, BOOM Esports showed their dominance. It seemed like they were destined for a dream season.

Successes and Struggles in International Competitions

BOOM Esports actively participated in various major tournaments, showcasing their remarkable skills. However, their success at these events didn’t quite translate into the international arena. Despite this, their outstanding performance in the GAMERS GALAXY: Invitational Series Dubai made them one of the most successful teams leading up to The International 2022.

Unfortunately, BOOM Esports faced challenges during TI11, the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year. They struggled to find their footing and remained at the bottom of the group stage standings. It appeared that their journey at the tournament was coming to an end, until they defied all odds on the final day of groups.

A Glimmer of Hope

Despite having only a 1.4 percent chance of advancing, BOOM Esports managed to secure a tiebreaker spot by defeating the dominant Evil Geniuses. They continued to impress by winning tiebreakers and even causing an upset against the TI10 champions, Team Spirit. However, their journey ended there, as they were unable to progress further in the tournament.

Shortly after TI11, some BOOM players expressed their desire to explore new opportunities and potentially relocate to different regions for the upcoming season. Despite a successful campaign in their home region, BOOM Esports couldn’t keep the team together. No official announcements have been made regarding the future plans of the organization or the departing players. Given their exceptional performance, it is likely that they will find new homes soon.

Remaining Uncertainties

As of now, only Yopaj and Fbz remain on the BOOM Esports roster. However, even Yopaj has expressed his intentions to explore other options, indicating that he may also be leaving the team.
