The Dota Pro Circuit 2021 Regional League in Southeast Asia is currently in its second and final season.
OB Esports x Neon performed exceptionally well in the Dota 2 Singapore Major, but the overall performance of the region was lackluster with both T1 and Fnatic losing early on. This is the last chance for many of the teams here, and they need to move past their earlier troubles quickly.
What’s at stake?
A total of 16 teams, divided into upper and lower divisions, compete against each other in a round-robin format.
In the upper division, the first-placed team earns a direct seed to the final Major of the 2021 DPC season. The second and third-placed teams will have different paths to secure their spots. The bottom two teams will be relegated to the lower division. The teams will also earn a share of $205,000, but only the top five teams will acquire DPC points.
In the lower division, eight teams will battle for their share of $75,000. The top two teams will be promoted to the upper division, while the bottom team will be eliminated from the DPC and replaced by teams from the open qualifiers.
Any teams that don’t qualify for The International 10 will have one last opportunity to secure a spot in the premier Dota 2 event through a last-chance qualifier.
Teams to watch out for
Neon was one of the biggest surprises at the ONE Esports Singapore Major, and all eyes will be on them to see if they can maintain their form in the second season of the league.
Fnatic and TNC Predator, once dominant champions of the region, have been struggling. Fnatic lost both series on the main stage of the Singapore Major, and TNC failed to qualify altogether. Both teams have made recent roster changes in an attempt to regain their former glory, but they have little room for error in their fight for a spot in TI10.
Team SMG is composed of some of Malaysia’s and Australia’s finest players. MidOne, Mushi, ah fu, and kpii have showcased their skills on the biggest stages, but for now, they begin their journey in the lower division.
