“We Faced Difficulty in Maintaining Our Composure” – Jokasteve from Team Liquid

Interview with Liquid’s General Manager, Jokasteve

During the semifinal matches today, we had the opportunity to talk with Liquid’s General Manager, Steve “Jokasteve” Perino.

The Mentality in the Liquid Camp during the Group Stages

With the most rounds played in the group stage, Liquid faced some challenges. We asked Jokasteve about the team’s mentality from game to game.

Jokasteve: “We had a tough time maintaining our composure in the later days. If we didn’t start strong, it would often have a negative impact on the rest of the game. Despite having a talented lineup, our mentality sometimes lets us down. We can only blame ourselves for the results in this group stage. We missed out on important opportunities.”

The Impact of zews as a Coach

One significant change Liquid made to their roster was bringing in zews as a coach. We asked Jokasteve about how zews influenced the team’s in-game mentality.

Jokasteve: “I am extremely impressed with zews and the positive effect he has had on the team. In all my experience in League of Legends and Overwatch, I have never seen a coach who actively contributes to discussions and motivates players like he does. He brings great ideas and pumps up the team. Unfortunately, due to holidays and nitr0’s wedding and honeymoon, he only had 12 days to work with the team for bootcamp. But even in that short time, he has been incredible, and I look forward to continuing to work with him.”
