Virtus Pro extends CS:GO roster contract until 2020

Virtus Pro Re-signs Legendary Polish Roster to Ensure Future in CS:GO

Virtus Pro, after experiencing inconsistent form in 2016, has taken a major step to secure its position in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive by extending the contracts of its legendary Polish roster.

According to the organization, the five players who have been competing together since January 2014 have signed contract extensions that will keep them with Virtus Pro until 2020. Not only does this commitment span four additional years, but it is also said to be the most valuable contract agreement in esports in terms of compensation.

Virtus Pro’s General Manager, Roman Dvoryankin, stated in a press release, “I admit they [the players] were quite difficult, but in the end we managed to reach a win-win solution.” Dvoryankin also sees this deal as a step towards implementing clearer and more civilized eSports rules.

For most teams, such a long-lasting contract would be hard to imagine since they frequently change players based on performance. Virtus Pro, however, holds the record for the longest-lasting roster in CS:GO history, which makes their decision to re-sign for an additional three years more understandable.

The roster, consisting of CS 1.6 veterans Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas, Filip “NEO” Kubski, Jaroslaw “pasha” Jarzabkowski, Janusz “snax” Pogorzelski, and Pawel “byali” Bielinski, struggled throughout 2016 in terms of results. However, their fortunes changed when they made a remarkable comeback in ELEAGUE Season 1, ultimately winning the event and a total of $400,000.

Whether or not this new agreement will impact the average length of contracts in CS:GO remains to be seen. Nevertheless, fans of Virtus Pro can rejoice in the potential of three more years with this legendary roster.
