In a dominant performance, the reigning champions of ELEAGUE secured their place in the quarterfinals of season two by finishing at the top of their group.
Polish team Virtus Pro, who had a successful run in 2016 and are looking to continue their winning streak, grabbed two decisive wins to clinch the top spot in Group B. This left the other three teams vying for the final spot in the top eight.
Virtus Pro started the day with a dominant performance against Echo Fox on Nuke. They won 14 out of 15 rounds on the CT side, allowing their opponents to only take one round before closing out the match with a score of 16-1.
In their match against Ninjas in Pyjamas, Virtus Pro continued their unstoppable form. This time on Cobblestone, they showed impressive CT play with eleven rounds in the first half. They secured a 16-7 victory, securing their place as the top seed in the final eight.
Ninjas in Pyjamas reached the winners’ match with a crucial win against G2 Esports. However, they were unable to stop the Swedish team, losing 5-16 on Overpass. This set up an elimination match against Echo Fox.
The losers match will kickstart today’s matches, and the winner will face Ninjas in Pyjamas for the second spot in Group B and a place in the quarterfinals.
