Valve Major Roster Lock Extended for FaceIt

CS:GO Teams Have Two More Weeks to Change Rosters Ahead of FACEIT Major

All 24 teams participating in the upcoming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Valve Major have been granted an extension of two weeks to make roster changes.

The roster lock for the FACEIT Major in London, set to commence on September 20, has now been moved to August 5.

The extension is likely a response to significant roster changes experienced by some of the top CS:GO teams in July. Notably, reigning champions Cloud9 currently only have three players after removing former in-game leader Pujan “FNS” Mehta, and star player Tarik “tarik” Celik leaving the team to join MIBR on July 12.

Cloud9 recently competed in the ELEAGUE Premier with European players Martin “STYKO” Styk and Maikil “Golden” Selim. However, it remains uncertain if these players will be attending the FACEIT Major with the organization.

Fan favorites Virtus Pro also have an empty slot in their roster following the departure of Janusz “snax” Pogorzelski on June 27. The team has reportedly shown interest in acquiring AGO rifler Michał “snatchie” Rudzki before the event. Since snax’s departure, the team has competed with Piotr “morelz” Taterka, but his performances have reportedly been below expectations.

Unlike previous Majors, players who failed to qualify can now join other rosters until the August 5 deadline, according to HLTV. This is a significant change and the first time it has been allowed in a Valve Major.

The teams that qualified through the Minors, however, are already locked in and cannot make changes to their rosters.
