Upsets in Group B of ESL Pro League Finals boost North’s chances of winning the championship

North Secures Top Spot in Group B at ESL Pro League Season 5 Finals

Group B at the ESL Pro League Season 5 Finals concluded with North emerging as the leader of the group. Team Liquid also managed to prevent a three-way tie with OpTic Gaming and Natus Vincere. Overall, it was an intense competition with close matches.

OpTic and Na’Vi finished with 2-3 records, while NRG Esports failed to win a single map, going home with a 0-5 record.

Victory for North

The Danish team, North, secured the first playoff spot in Group B with a win against OpTic. The game was close throughout, but OpTic’s risky double-AWP strategy broke their economy and North capitalized on this, ultimately winning 16-14. North’s in-game leader, MSL, performed exceptionally well, top fragging with 25 kills and an impressive 52.0% headshot percentage.

Mousesports Shocks OpTic

Mousesports’ win against OpTic on Cobblestone came as a surprise to many. Despite OpTic winning the first pistol round, Mousesports controlled the game with good economic management and ultimately won 16-12. ChrisJ stood out with 30 kills, six entry frags, and an average damage per round of 105.6.

Mousesports also had a strong showing against Liquid, winning 16-12 on Inferno. Robin “ropz” Kool showcased his accuracy with a remarkable 61.5% HS percentage. In their final game of the group stage, Mousesports defeated NRG 16-10 on Mirage, with all players performing well.

Liquid Survives with a Win Against North

Liquid’s match against North on Cobblestone was crucial for their survival in the group stage. Liquid performed well on their Terrorist side and managed to beat North with a 16-10 scoreline. Twistzz was the standout player for Liquid, with a kill-death ratio of 26-19 and an incredible 69.2% HS percentage.

The Playoff Picture

With their first-place finish in Group B, North now has two days to prepare for the semifinals. Mousesports, in second place, will face SK Gaming, while Liquid, in third place, will take on EnVyUs.

Mousesports’ recent form suggests they could pose a threat to SK Gaming. On the other hand, Liquid will only have a chance against EnVyUs if their star players perform at their best.
