UMP-45 receives balance adjustment in recent CS:GO patch

New Update Decreases Damage for UMP-45 in CS:GO

The UMP-45 recently received a significant change in the latest update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The popular submachine gun now has reduced ranged damage from 0.85 to 0.75, aligning it more closely with other SMGs. This means that each bullet will now inflict less damage at a distance of approximately 500 units, which is about halfway across the middle catwalk on Dust II.

In the upcoming weeks, the professional scene will need to conduct thorough testing to determine the UMP-45’s viability in the current meta.

To maintain the effectiveness of the UMP-45, players may find themselves engaging in more close-quarters combat. Alternatively, they can stick with the tried-and-true AK-47s, M4A1-S/M4A4s, and AWPs, although this can negatively impact their team’s economy.

Critics of the update have expressed their dissatisfaction on Reddit’s /r/GlobalOffensive, arguing that the change is too lenient.

Some have suggested further reducing the overall damage, increasing the weapon’s economic cost, and even boosting the damage of the Galil AR and FAMAS. However, implementing such changes could potentially remove the UMP-45 from the meta, contradicting Valve’s intentions. Increasing the viability of the Galil AR and FAMAS in buy rounds could have a significant impact on the meta as a whole.
