Top Ten Teams in North America

Ranking North American Teams Based on Recent Results

In this article, we will rank North American teams based on their recent results within the last 100 days. We will consider tournament performances and the strength of their wins leading up to their victories or eliminations. Losses will not negatively affect rankings, but they may limit a team’s chances to post positive results. Online results will only be considered if a team was able to qualify for a tournament.

#1. OpTic Gaming

OpTic Gaming started off the time period with shaky results, failing to qualify for MLG Columbus and DreamHack Malmö. However, with the addition of Mixwell, they have had impressive performances and have obtained victories against top teams. Their wins include two Bo3 victories against Tempo Storm/Immortals and a win over TSM. They have also achieved single map wins against Astralis, NiP, FlipSid3, and Hellraisers.

#2. Cloud9

Since losing Sgares, Cloud9 has had a decline in performance. However, they showed strong form in ELEAGUE Week 1 and the ECS Finals. Their victories include a 2-0 win over Astralis and wins against Liquid, Tempo Storm, and Luminosity.

#3. Team Liquid

Liquid had a strong showing at the major with S1mple on the team. After the major, their results have not been as impressive. However, with the recent addition of JDM64 and the return of S1mple, we are discounting their recent underwhelming performances. Their wins include a Bo3 victory over Cloud9 and single map wins against Fnatic, FaZe, and G2.

#4. Counter Logic Gaming

CLG impressed at the Major by finishing in the top eight. However, their results have been disappointing since then. They have decided to change two players, but we have not discounted their previous results. CLG edges out TSM due to their more frequent tournament appearances and their two Bo3 wins against worldwide top 20 teams.

#5. Team SoloMid

TSM initially struggled as a new North American squad. However, they have exceeded expectations in the past two months. Their victories include Bo3 wins over Cloud9, NRG, and Selfless, as well as map wins against Fnatic and Astralis.

#6. Selfless

Selfless has been able to qualify for numerous tournaments, although they haven’t achieved many wins. Offline, they have won two Bo3 series and one Bo1, which is better than Splyce’s single win over Renegades.

#7. Splyce

Splyce showed promise in qualifying for the previous Major, but they haven’t achieved remarkable results in the past 100 days. Their wins include map victories against Virtus.Pro and OpTic at the CEVO Gfinity Professional Season 9 Finals, as well as a Bo1 win over Renegades at the ESL Cologne Main Qualifier.

#8. Echo Fox

Echo Fox has not been able to qualify for any tournaments in the past 100 days due to roster instability. However, their wins over Na’Vi and Flipside at ELEAGUE were impressive results.

#9. NRG eSports

NRG had some victories over the past 100 days, but due to the ruleset, only their win against CLG in ELEAGUE counts towards their ranking. Their inclusion in the list is justified due to their association with a North American organization and their two North American players.

#10. Indeterminate

Team Kaliber and Winterfox were the only other North American teams who attended LAN events in the past 100 days, but none of them were able to record a win. The inclusion of compLexity will depend on their performance in Week 6 of ELEAGUE.
