Thorin’s July 12, 2017 CS:GO Top 10 Global Rankings

CS:GO Teams Ranked for July 12, 2017

CS:GO has always had difficulties in maintaining a consistent set of world rankings. With so many teams attending different events, it’s hard to judge the context of which event’s results should count for more. Instead of implementing a complex point system, I have analyzed the recent form of each team and used my own intuition to determine the global top 10.

Offline results are the only ones that I consider. Generally, I evaluate a team’s performance over a period of three months, placing more weight on recent tournament results. Factors such as finishes, consistency, current form, and opponents faced are all taken into account.

Since the last edition of the rankings, there have been several tournaments, including ELEAGUE Clash for Cash, the Minors, Dreamhack Summer, ECS S3 Finals, the Major qualifier, and ESL One Cologne.

Here are the CS:GO Top 10 World Rankings for July 12, 2017.

1) SK Gaming

Recent Form:
– cs_summit (1st)
– IEM XII Sydney (1st)
– EPL S5 Finals (3rd-4th)
– DreamHack Summer (1st)
– ECS S3 Finals (1st)
– ESL One Cologne (1st)

SK Gaming’s return to the top spot is emphasized by their consecutive wins at Dreamhack Summer, ECS S3 Finals, and ESL One Cologne. Their dominance at major events has solidified their position as the number one team in the world.

2) FaZe

Recent Form:
– IEM XII Sydney (2nd)
– ECS S3 Finals (2nd)
– ESL One Cologne (3rd-4th)

FaZe’s victory at StarSeries was not enough to keep them at the top. However, their consistent performance in reaching finals and finishing in the top four has helped them maintain a reasonable distance from SK Gaming.

3) G2

Recent Form:
– Dreamhack Austin (3rd-4th)
– Dreamhack Tours (1st)
– EPL S5 Finals (1st)
– ECS S3 Finals (5th-6th)
– PGL Krakow Qualifier (Qualified)
– ESL One Cologne (5th-8th)

G2’s run at EPL has been overshadowed by underwhelming performances at other big events. Their third place ranking is at risk of being overtaken by Astralis. G2 remains a dangerous dark horse in the CS:GO scene.

4) Astralis

Recent Form:
– ELEAGUE Clash for Cash (1st)
– IEM XII Sydney (3rd-4th)
– ECS S3 Finals (3rd-4th)

Astralis’ top four finish at ECS was not enough to regain their previous top spots. Their ranked wins and performance at smaller events have helped them maintain their position as one of the top teams.

5) Cloud9

Recent Form:
– cs_summit (4th)
– Dreamhack Austin (5th-6th)
– EPL S5 Finals (11th-12th)
– Americas Minor (1st)
– DreamHack Summer (7th-8th)
– ECS S3 Finals (3rd-4th)
– PGL Krakow Qualifier (Qualified)
– ESL One Cologne (2nd)

The resurgence of Cloud9 has propelled them to fifth place. Their performances at cs_summit, Dreamhack Austin, and ESL One Cologne have solidified their position among the top teams.

6) Na`Vi

Recent Form:
– Dreamhack Tours (5th-6th)
– EPL S5 Finals (9th-10th)
– Adrenaline Cyber League (2nd)
– ESL One Cologne (3rd-4th)

Na`Vi’s top four finish at ESL One Cologne helped them secure a better placing. With high demand for their talent, a strong performance at the major will be crucial for their future success.

7) Gambit

Recent Form:
– cs_summit (2nd)
– Dreamhack Austin (1st)
– DreamHack Summer (5th-6th)

Gambit’s strength as a team is evident in their performances at smaller tournaments. Their wins over top teams in Bo1 matches have helped them maintain their spot in the rankings.

8) Fnatic

Recent Form:
– EPL S5 Finals (7th-8th)
– DreamHack Summer (2nd)
– ECS S3 Finals (7th-8th)
– ESL One Cologne (9th-11th)

Fnatic, one of the most successful teams in history, has returned to the rankings after a brief absence. Their second place finish at Dreamhack Summer and wins over top teams have earned them a place in the top 10.

9) North

Recent Form:
– IEM XII Sydney (6th-7th)
– EPL S5 Finals (2nd)
– ESL One Cologne (9th-11th)

North’s stability earlier in the year has faded. Their underwhelming performances and lack of quality wins may necessitate a roster change if they want to stay in the rankings.

10) Team Liquid

Recent Form:
– cs_summit (5th-6th)
– Dreamhack Austin (7th-8th)
– EPL S5 Finals (3rd-4th)
– ECS S3 Finals (5th-6th)
– PGL Krakow Qualifier (Did not qualify)
– ESL One Cologne (5th-8th)

Team Liquid’s ranking is based on moral victories rather than top finishes. They have managed to stay in the top 10 due to their wins in Bo1 matches and a top four finish at EPL. More top placings are necessary for them to improve their ranking.
