The Reason Behind GuardiaN’s Decline in 2016 with Na`Vi had Nothing to do with His Injuries, but Rather the Consequences of Zeus’ Departure

Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács reflects on his time with Natus Vincere

FaZe Clan’s new primary AWPer, Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács, spoke about his experience with Natus Vincere earlier today. His insights into the team structure may come as a surprise.

Following Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko’s return to Natus Vincere from Gambit Esports, rumors about players wanting Zeus kicked in 2016 started circulating again. In a forum post addressing Zeus’ return, GuardiaN decided to clarify the situation.

According to GuardiaN, the events that followed Zeus’ move to Gambit led to his decline in performance. One forum user believed that GuardiaN supported kicking Zeus to make room for Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev. However, GuardiaN explained that he was against this decision and that the majority’s opinion did not include him or Ioann “Edward” Sukhariev. After Zeus was removed from Na`Vi in August 2016, GuardiaN lost his motivation to play CS:GO due to the new system with s1mple as the star player/secondary AWPer and Denis “seized” Kostin as the in-game leader.

Previously, it was believed that GuardiaN’s performance slump in 2016 was due to a wrist injury. However, he clarified that the injury only had short-term effects on his gameplay.

GuardiaN expressed his dissatisfaction with Na`Vi by asking them to reduce his salary because he felt he didn’t deserve it. He stated, “I was really unhappy. My game was restrained by [Seized] and [s1mple], whom everyone [was] overexcited [about]. Last year, I only played CS:GO twice—once for StarLadder and once for ESL Cologne. I didn’t prepare much for the Major either. I searched for happiness through other games.”

As a result, GuardiaN expressed his desire to not play with some of his teammates, leading to his transfer to FaZe. He joined the FaZe roster last week, replacing Aleksi “allu” Jalli.

Despite being on vacation during the ongoing player break, GuardiaN is excited to return to playing CS:GO.
