Tempo Storm achieves the major upset of Day One at DreamHack Malmo

The Exciting Action at the Counter-Strike Tournament in Malmö

The never-ending Counter-Strike tournament circuit arrived in Malmö with a bang, as one Brazilian team made a strong impression.

Just nine days after MLG Columbus, 16 teams gathered in Malmö for DreamHack’s first event in the city. They were all competing for a share of $250,000.

Group D: Victories for Virtus Pro and Tempo Storm

In what was arguably the toughest group, Virtus Pro and Tempo Storm emerged victorious over FaZe Clan and Team EnvyUs, respectively. Virtus Pro defeated FaZe comfortably with a score of 16-8.

Fabien “Kioshima” Fiey, who was making his debut for FaZe, played exceptionally well in his first outing. The match between Tempo Storm and EnvyUs turned out to be the closest of the day, with Tempo Storm winning 16-14. Although EnVyUs will be disappointed with the loss, Tempo Storm proved themselves and are looking to make a statement to major leagues such as ECS and ELEAGUE, which have seemingly excluded them. In Malmö, EnVyUs delivered a disappointing performance, following their bottom-place finish in Columbus.

Luminosity Gaming and Mousesports Triumph in Group C

The reigning major champions, Luminosity Gaming, maintained their winning form with a victory over TyLoo Gaming. TyLoo only managed to win seven rounds before Luminosity emerged victorious. On the other hand, Mousesports overcame Team Liquid in a closely contested match with a score of 16-13. Despite their strong performance at MLG Columbus, Team Liquid didn’t seem as formidable with their new member Kenneth “Koosta” Suen.

Group B: Na’Vi and Counter Logic Gaming Shine

In Group B, Na’Vi secured a win against Godsent, despite not having their superstar player GuardiaN. Instead, they utilized coach Sergey “Starix” Ischuck. Meanwhile, Counter Logic Gaming delivered a shocking result with a dominant 16-2 victory over G2 Esports. Alexandre “Bodyy” Pianaro stood out for G2, although it didn’t make a difference in the end.

In another surprising outcome, Team Dignitas defeated Ninjas in Pyjamas with a score of 16-2. The experienced Swedish veterans struggled, with three members failing to reach double-digit kills in the game. Team Astralis had a relatively comfortable win against Lounge Gaming in Group C.

Exciting Matches Await in Malmö

There are more thrilling matches to come in Malmö. Na’Vi will face Counter Logic Gaming in Group B, Astralis will go up against Team Dignitas in Group C, and FaZe will battle EnVyUs in Group D, meaning one of the teams will be eliminated.
