Team Envy and OpTic Gaming finalize IEM Oakland team roster

The Road to IEM Oakland: Final Teams Announced

The stage is set for IEM Oakland, as the teams for the highly-anticipated event have been finalized. Twelve of the world’s best teams will gather in November to compete for a prize pool of $300,000 and CS:GO glory.

Last night, Team Envy and OpTic Gaming secured their spots in the upcoming installment of IEM Oakland. Envy emerged victorious in the European online qualifier, while OpTic claimed the top spot in the North American qualifier.

Envy’s Triumph in Europe

In a challenging bracket, Envy proved their worth by defeating Fnatic, North, and Mousesports to secure their well-deserved spot. The French lineup outlasted other top European teams, such as Natus Vincere and BIG, who were on the other side of the bracket.

OpTic Dominates in North America

On the other side of the pond, OpTic had a relatively easy run to the top. They defeated open bracket team Torqued, NRG Esports, and Renegades to secure their place in IEM Oakland. Other top North American teams like Misfits and CLG didn’t make the cut.

Joining the Invited Teams

OpTic and Envy will be joining a list of invited teams that have received their invitations over the past few months. These teams include Astralis, Cloud9, FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, Gambit Esports, Immortals, Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas, SK Gaming, and The MongolZ, who qualified through the East/Southeast Asia qualifier.

While the groups for the event have yet to be announced, it is certain that the 12 competing teams will face off in a round robin group stage followed by a single-elimination, best-of-three playoff stage. The grand finals will be a best-of-five showdown.
