Season 2 of ELEAGUE: Event Predictions Part 1

ELEAGUE Quarterfinals: The Best CS:GO Teams Battle for the Title

ELEAGUE, the future home of one of Counter-Strike’s biggest tournaments and the ultimate televised CS:GO event, is hosting its quarterfinals this week. The playoffs will feature four matchups between eight top teams from around the world.

The Four Matches

The quarterfinals will take place at the Turner Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, where the teams will compete for a $1.1 million prize pool and the title of ELEAGUE Season 2 champions.

Dignitas vs. SK Gaming

Many have claimed that SK Gaming’s recent success marks “The SK Era” in CS:GO. However, I have always questioned whether they could dominate the scene like Fnatic or NiP. While they have strong individual players, they heavily rely on specific tactics, making them vulnerable to teams with strong tactical awareness. Nevertheless, they are still a formidable lineup.

Dignitas is considered one of the best Danish teams currently competing. They have shown impressive performances at recent events, winning EPICENTER: Moscow and qualifying for the ECS Finals. However, they faced an upset at DreamHack Winter, raising doubts about their skill level.

A video by Duncan “Thorin” Shields highlights some weaknesses in SK Gaming’s map pool. If SK bans Dignitas’ favored map, Dignitas has a chance of securing a 2-0 or 2-1 victory.

Mirage and Cobblestone are potential maps for this matchup, with both teams having their strengths and weaknesses on these maps.

Astralis vs. Ninjas in Pyjamas

This matchup seems straightforward to me: NiP will most likely win 2-0. They recently had a remarkable victory over SK Gaming at IEM Oakland, showcasing their potential to take on the top teams. Astralis, on the other hand, has struggled to rise above third place. While they have performed well online, defeating top teams, their LAN performance has been questionable.

Astralis’ best chance is to get NiP on Mirage, Train, or Cache. However, defeating NiP on any of these maps won’t be easy. To win, Astralis will need an exceptional performance.
