The PGL Season 1 Finals: A Closer Look

The PGL Season 1 Finals event for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is almost here. From October 2nd to 4th, 2015, four top teams will battle it out for a prize pool of $75,000.

The Competing Teams


The four teams that have qualified for the season finals consist of three European teams and one North American team. Here is the full list of competing teams:

  • Fnatic
  • Virtus.pro
  • Team SoloMid
  • Team Liquid Pro

The Format and Schedule


The competitors will initially play in a double elimination, best-of-three bracket to determine who will compete in the Grand Final. The Grand Final will be a best-of-five series where the teams will vie for a share of the prize pool.

Here is the complete schedule for the upcoming event:

Friday, 2nd October

  • 13:00 – Virtus.pro vs. Team Liquid Pro
  • 16:00 – Fnatic vs. Team SoloMid

Saturday, 3rd October

  • 13:00 – Lower bracket final
  • 16:00 – Upper bracket final

Sunday, 4th October

  • 12:00 – Consolidation Final
  • 16:00 – Grand Final

The Prize Pool


The total prize pool is $85,000, with $10,000 already allocated to the four competing teams for travel expenses. Here is the breakdown of the prize pool:

1st place: $40,000

2nd place: $20,000

3rd place: $10,000

4th place: $5,000
